Believing that donors get more out of their contributions if they are able to help create and design a project rather than just give money, Gene Phillips began buying land in Farmers Branch over a decade ago. The idea was to one day create a vibrant new urban environment. What is now Mercer Crossing, a 1,250-acre residential and commercial development, is the last remaining tract of undeveloped land available in the Central Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
The project includes a 50-acre public park that encourages family picnics, stroller walks, exercise trails, meeting areas and a large lake with numerous fountains. This park is one-of-a-kind and there is nothing like it in the Dallas area.
